Introduction of school library

Library is a place for education, culture and communication. It also provides students a placid environment to do their homework and revision intently. Our school library locates on the third floor of our school, just beside the back stairs. It covers an area of about 200 square metres, which means more than 2,000 square feet. Its opening hours is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is a huge knowledge base. It has a wide variety of collections such as novel, reference books, newspaper, magazines, DVD, etc. It has a collection of 17,517 Chinese and English books. Last school year, our school library had 1562 new items in total. This year (from September till March), our school library has 1,067 more new items of printing category and multimedia. According to the library computer data, the books borrowed out reach 169,929 times from 2000 to 2012. Our school library is well-equipped. There are six benches for students to read.There are also computers for them to do research. However, surfing the net for non-learning purpose is not allowed. Besides, a printer is available for students to print documents, pictures, etc. The quality of services of our school library is good. Our librarians, who are students from form one to form six, are interviewed and chosen by our school teachers. They are responsible for the borrowing and returning of books, and correct the inappropriate behaviors of students in the library as well.
